Understanding Contact Statuses in LinkedClient

The status system in LinkedClient allows you to track the progress of each contact throughout their journey in the sales process. These statuses are automatically managed by Elsie, your AI assistant, based on the contact’s actions and engagement level. You can also manually update statuses when needed.

Where to View and Manage Statuses

Statuses are visible in the Pipeline view of the platform. Each column represents a different stage of the sales journey. Hovering over the status names provides a quick explanation, but understanding the logic behind them will help you manage your pipeline more effectively.

Available Statuses and What They Mean

  • Contact: All newly imported contacts appear here. These could be imported manually, in bulk, or automatically through LinkedIn integration. No actions have been taken yet.
  • Prospecting: The sales cycle has been activated for this contact. Outreach may have started, but there has been no response from the contact yet.
  • Engaged: The contact has replied or interacted with your outreach. Elsie will now tailor her actions based on the engagement.
  • Nurturing: Conversations have begun, but there has not been significant progress. The contact remains active in the cycle, but requires additional follow-up or relationship-building.
  • Qualified: The contact has shown clear interest in your offer. The sales cycle remains active, and Elsie will continue to move the conversation forward with more focused intent.
  • Meeting Scheduled: A meeting has been booked with the contact. Once a contact is in this status, the sales cycle is automatically paused. Elsie will no longer send messages, as the objective has been met.
  • Won, Lost, or Negotiation: These statuses reflect the outcome of your interaction after the meeting. You can manually assign them based on how the meeting or follow-up conversations went.
  • Excluded or Blacklisted: Contacts in these statuses are excluded from all automation. Elsie will not engage with them, and no further communication will be sent from your account.

Automatic vs Manual Updates

Most statuses are automatically assigned based on actions taken by you or responses from the contact. However, you can also manually change a contact's status by opening their profile and selecting a new status from the dropdown menu. This gives you full control over how each contact is tracked.

Why Statuses Matter

Statuses are not only for visibility. They directly influence how Elsie behaves:

  • Elsie only sends messages when a sales cycle is active and the status allows communication
  • Certain statuses, like Meeting Scheduled or Excluded, will automatically pause or stop all outreach
  • Status changes help your team prioritise outreach and focus on warm leads

Summary

The contact status system ensures that your outreach is timely, appropriate, and aligned with the contact’s current stage in your pipeline. Combined with Elsie’s automation, it helps reduce manual tracking and gives you a clear picture of your sales process.
